Sensory Cortex
The sensory cortex is a part of the brain responsible for processing sensory information from the body. It is located in the parietal lobe and receives signals related to touch, temperature, pain, and proprioception (the sense of body position). Different areas of the sensory cortex correspond to different parts of the body, creating a map that helps us understand where sensations originate.
This region plays a crucial role in how we perceive our environment and interact with it. For example, when you touch a hot surface, the sensory cortex helps you feel the heat and react quickly to avoid injury. Overall, the sensory cortex is essential for our daily experiences and safety.
