Seaboard System Railroad
The Seaboard System Railroad was a major American freight railroad that operated primarily in the southeastern United States. It was formed in 1982 through the merger of several railroads, including the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. The system played a crucial role in transporting goods and materials across the region.
In 1986, the Seaboard System Railroad was merged into the CSX Transportation, which is one of the largest freight rail networks in the country today. The Seaboard System's legacy continues to influence rail transport in the southeastern U.S., contributing to the efficiency of freight movement.
