Seaboard Coast Line Railroad
The Seaboard Coast Line Railroad (SCL) was a major American railroad that operated primarily in the southeastern United States. Formed in 1967 through the merger of the Seaboard Air Line Railroad and the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad, SCL provided both freight and passenger services across several states, including Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
In 1980, the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad merged with the Chessie System to create the CSX Transportation, which continues to operate today. The SCL played a significant role in the development of rail transport in the region, contributing to economic growth and connectivity.
