Scrapie
Scrapie is a fatal neurodegenerative disease that affects sheep and goats. It is caused by misfolded proteins called prions, which lead to brain damage and behavioral changes. Infected animals may show signs such as itching, weight loss, and uncoordinated movements.
The disease is primarily transmitted through contact with contaminated environments or infected animals. Scrapie is not known to infect humans, but it is part of a group of diseases known as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), which also includes BSE in cattle and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans.
