School Reform Commission
The School Reform Commission (SRC) was established to oversee and improve public education in certain districts, particularly in cities like Philadelphia. Its main goal was to enhance student performance and ensure that schools operated efficiently. The SRC had the authority to make decisions about budgets, school closures, and the management of schools.
The commission was created in response to challenges faced by urban schools, including low graduation rates and inadequate resources. It aimed to implement reforms, such as new educational programs and partnerships with charter schools, to provide better opportunities for students. The SRC was dissolved in 2018, transitioning responsibilities back to the local school board.
