Sardinian deer
The Sardinian deer, also known as the Sardinian fallow deer, is a subspecies of fallow deer native to the island of Sardinia, Italy. This deer is characterized by its distinctive spotted coat, which helps it blend into the forested environments of its habitat. Adult males typically have antlers that can grow up to 80 centimeters long.
Sardinian deer are herbivores, primarily feeding on grasses, leaves, and shrubs. They are social animals, often found in small groups, and are known for their gentle demeanor. Conservation efforts are in place to protect this unique subspecies, as its population has been threatened by habitat loss and hunting.
