Santonii
The Santonii were an ancient Celtic tribe that inhabited the region of Gaul, specifically in what is now western France. They were known for their agricultural practices and trade, particularly in the production of salt from the nearby marshes. The Santonii played a significant role in the local economy and interacted with neighboring tribes and cultures.
During the Roman conquest of Gaul, the Santonii were eventually subdued and integrated into the Roman Empire. Their territory became part of the province of Aquitania, and the tribe's influence diminished as Roman culture and governance took hold in the region.
