Sambucus (Elder)
Sambucus, commonly known as elder, is a genus of flowering plants in the family Adoxaceae. It includes several species, with Sambucus nigra being the most well-known. Elder plants are characterized by their clusters of small white or cream flowers and dark purple or black berries. They are often found in temperate regions and thrive in moist, fertile soils.
Elderberries have been used in traditional medicine for their potential health benefits, including immune support and anti-inflammatory properties. The flowers and berries can be made into syrups, jams, and wines, but it's important to note that raw elderberries and other parts of the plant can be toxic if consumed.
