Sambhar Lake
Sambhar Lake is the largest saltwater lake in India, located in the state of Rajasthan. It covers an area of about 230 square kilometers and is situated approximately 80 kilometers southwest of Jaipur. The lake is known for its high salinity, which supports the production of salt and attracts various migratory birds, making it a significant ecological site.
The lake is surrounded by the Aravalli mountain range and features a unique landscape with salt flats. It is also home to the Sambhar Lake Wildlife Sanctuary, which protects diverse flora and fauna. The region's salt production has been a traditional livelihood for local communities for generations.
