Salt Production
Salt production involves extracting salt from natural sources, primarily through two methods: evaporation and mining. In evaporation, seawater is channeled into shallow ponds where the sun and wind help evaporate the water, leaving behind salt crystals. This method is commonly used in coastal areas and is known as solar salt production.
In contrast, mining involves extracting salt from underground deposits, often formed from ancient seas. This method can include drilling and blasting to access the salt, which is then crushed and processed. Both methods yield different types of salt, such as table salt, sea salt, and rock salt, each with unique properties and uses.
