Salvadoran Civil War
The Salvadoran Civil War was a conflict in El Salvador that lasted from 1980 to 1992. It was primarily fought between the government, supported by the military, and leftist guerrilla groups known as the Farabundo Martà National Liberation Front (FMLN). The war was fueled by social inequality, political repression, and economic hardship, leading to widespread violence and human rights abuses.
The conflict resulted in the deaths of approximately 75,000 people and displaced many more. In 1992, the war officially ended with the signing of the Chapultepec Peace Accords, which aimed to promote democracy and social reforms in El Salvador.
