Salman Schocken
Salman Schocken was a prominent Jewish publisher and businessman born in 1877 in Germany. He is best known for founding the Schocken Verlag, a publishing house that played a significant role in promoting Jewish literature and culture during the early 20th century. Schocken was dedicated to publishing works that highlighted Jewish identity and thought, making a lasting impact on Jewish intellectual life.
In addition to his publishing efforts, Schocken was also involved in various philanthropic activities, supporting education and cultural initiatives within the Jewish community. He emigrated to Palestine in 1934, where he continued his work in publishing and contributed to the development of Jewish culture in the region until his death in 1959.
