Saint Stanislaus of Szczepanów
Saint Stanislaus of Szczepanów was a Polish bishop and martyr, born around 1030 in what is now Poland. He is best known for his strong opposition to the immoral behavior of King Bolesław II, which ultimately led to his martyrdom in 1079. Stanislaus was canonized by Pope Innocent IV in 1253, and he became the patron saint of Poland.
