Saint Maria Mazzarello
Saint Maria Mazzarello was an Italian religious sister and co-founder of the Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco. Born on May 9, 1837, in Mornese, Italy, she dedicated her life to the education and care of young girls. Inspired by the teachings of Saint John Bosco, she worked tirelessly to provide a safe and nurturing environment for those in need.
In 1872, Maria established the first community of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, focusing on the spiritual and practical education of girls. She was canonized as a saint by Pope Pius XII on July 24, 1951, and her feast day is celebrated on May 13.
