Saint Lawrence
Saint Lawrence was a Christian martyr and one of the seven deacons of Rome. He is best known for his role in the early Church during the persecution of Christians under the Roman Emperor Valerian. Lawrence was responsible for distributing alms to the poor and caring for the Church's treasures.
He was arrested in 258 AD and, according to tradition, was martyred by being roasted alive on a gridiron. His feast day is celebrated on August 10, and he is the patron saint of cooks, comedians, and poor people. His legacy continues to inspire many in the Christian faith.
