Saint Joseph Freinademetz
Saint Joseph Freinademetz was an Italian missionary born on April 15, 1852, in Oberammergau, Austria. He joined the Society of the Divine Word and dedicated his life to spreading Christianity in China. He arrived in Shandong province in 1879, where he worked tirelessly to learn the language and culture, earning the respect of the local people.
Freinademetz faced many challenges, including political unrest and health issues, but he remained committed to his mission. He established schools and churches, promoting education and social welfare. He passed away on January 28, 1908, and was canonized as a saint by Pope John Paul II in 2003.
