Saint Francis Xavier
Saint Francis Xavier was a Spanish missionary and co-founder of the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits. Born in 1506, he played a crucial role in the spread of Christianity in Asia, particularly in India and Japan. He is known for his dedication to evangelism and his efforts to adapt Christian teachings to different cultures.
He traveled extensively, reaching places like the Maluku Islands and Goa. Saint Francis Xavier is celebrated for his missionary work and is recognized as the patron saint of missionaries. He died in 1552 on the island of Shenzhen, China, while attempting to enter mainland China.
