Saint Hedwig of Silesia
Saint Hedwig of Silesia was a noblewoman born in 1174 in Bavaria, Germany. She married Henry I the Bearded, the Duke of Silesia, and became known for her deep faith and charitable works. Together, they had seven children, and she dedicated her life to helping the poor and supporting the church.
After her husband's death in 1238, Hedwig became a nun and founded the Cistercian monastery in Trzebnica. She was known for her piety and devotion, and she was canonized as a saint by Pope Clement IV in 1267. Her feast day is celebrated on October 16.
