Saint Hedwig of Poland
Saint Hedwig of Poland, also known as Saint Hedwig of Silesia, was born in 1174 and became the Duchess of Silesia through her marriage to Henry I the Bearded. She is celebrated for her deep faith and commitment to charitable works, particularly in supporting the poor and founding monasteries.
Hedwig was canonized by Pope Clement IV in 1267, and her feast day is observed on October 16. She is the patron saint of Silesia and is often depicted wearing a crown and holding a model of a church, symbolizing her dedication to her faith and community.
