Polish History
Polish history dates back to the early Middle Ages, with the establishment of the Polish state in 966 under Mieszko I. Over the centuries, Poland experienced periods of growth, including the Golden Age in the 16th century, when it became a major European power, and the formation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
However, Poland faced significant challenges, including partitions in the late 18th century by Prussia, Russia, and Austria, which erased it from the map for over a century. Poland regained independence in 1918, but faced invasions during World War II, leading to immense suffering and loss. Today, Poland is a democratic nation and a member of the European Union.
