Saint Elizabeth of Portugal
Saint Elizabeth of Portugal, also known as Saint Isabel, was born in 1271 and became Queen of Portugal through her marriage to King Dinis of Portugal. She was known for her deep faith, compassion, and dedication to helping the poor. Elizabeth often used her royal resources to provide food and shelter for those in need.
She is also remembered for her efforts in promoting peace, particularly between her husband and her son, Afonso IV of Portugal. After her death in 1336, she was canonized by Pope Urban VIII in 1625, and her feast day is celebrated on July 4.
