Saber-Toothed Tiger
The Saber-Toothed Tiger, scientifically known as Smilodon, was a prehistoric carnivorous mammal that lived during the Pleistocene epoch, approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. It is best known for its long, curved canine teeth, which could grow up to 8 inches long. These powerful predators primarily hunted large herbivores, such as bison and mammoths, using their strong forelimbs to bring down prey.
Saber-toothed tigers were not actually tigers but belonged to a different family of cats. They had a robust build, with a stocky body and short legs, which helped them in ambush hunting. Fossils have been found in various locations across North America and South America, providing insight into their habitat and lifestyle.
