Smilodon
Smilodon, commonly known as the saber-toothed cat, lived during the Pleistocene epoch, approximately 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago. It is best known for its long, curved canine teeth, which could grow up to 8 inches long. This large predator weighed between 220 and 660 pounds and had a robust build, making it a formidable hunter.
Smilodon primarily inhabited the grasslands and forests of North America and South America. It likely preyed on large herbivores, such as mammoths and bison. Fossil evidence suggests that it may have used ambush tactics to catch its prey, relying on strength and powerful forelimbs to bring down animals.
