SS Marine Sulphur Queen
The SS Marine Sulphur Queen was a large tanker ship built in 1967, designed to transport molten sulphur. It was notable for its unique construction, featuring a double-hull design that aimed to enhance safety and stability during voyages. The ship was operated by the Marine Transport Lines and primarily served routes between the Gulf of Mexico and various ports.
In February 1970, the SS Marine Sulphur Queen tragically disappeared in the Gulf of Mexico while en route from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Port Everglades, Florida. Despite extensive search efforts, no trace of the vessel or its crew was ever found, leading to speculation about the cause of its loss.
