SS Marine Sulphur
The SS Marine Sulphur was a tanker ship built in 1950, primarily designed to transport molten sulfur. It was operated by the Marine Sulphur Transport Company and was notable for its unique cargo, which required specialized handling due to the high temperatures involved.
In February 1963, the SS Marine Sulphur tragically sank off the coast of Florida while en route from New Orleans to Norfolk. The disappearance of the vessel, along with its crew of 39, raised concerns about maritime safety and led to investigations into the ship's design and operational practices.
