SNRI
A Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor, or SNRI, is a type of medication commonly used to treat depression and anxiety disorders. SNRIs work by increasing the levels of two important neurotransmitters in the brain: serotonin and norepinephrine. By preventing the reabsorption of these chemicals, SNRIs help improve mood and alleviate symptoms of anxiety.
Common examples of SNRIs include venlafaxine and duloxetine. These medications are typically prescribed when other treatments, such as SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors), are not effective. Like all medications, SNRIs can have side effects, so it's important for patients to discuss their options with a healthcare provider.
