SAD (Sadness)
SAD, or Seasonal Affective Disorder, is a type of depression that occurs at certain times of the year, often in the fall and winter months when daylight hours are shorter. People with SAD may experience symptoms such as low energy, changes in sleep patterns, and feelings of hopelessness. The lack of sunlight is believed to disrupt the body's internal clock and affect mood-regulating chemicals in the brain.
Treatment options for SAD include light therapy, which involves exposure to bright artificial light, as well as psychotherapy and medication. Many individuals find relief by increasing their exposure to natural light, engaging in regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy diet.
