S Phase
The S Phase is a crucial part of the cell cycle, specifically during interphase. It is the phase where DNA replication occurs, allowing a cell to duplicate its genetic material. This ensures that when the cell divides, each new cell will have an identical set of chromosomes.
During the S Phase, the cell synthesizes new DNA strands, resulting in two complete sets of chromosomes. This process is essential for growth, development, and tissue repair in organisms. After the S Phase, the cell moves into the G2 Phase before entering mitosis, where it will divide into two daughter cells.
