Rwandan Civil War
The Rwandan Civil War took place from 1990 to 1994, primarily between the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), composed mainly of the Tutsi ethnic group, and the Rwandan government, which was predominantly Hutu. The conflict began when the RPF invaded Rwanda from Uganda, seeking to overthrow the Hutu-led government and address the discrimination faced by Tutsis.
The war escalated into a genocide in 1994, during which an estimated 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were killed in just 100 days. The conflict ended when the RPF captured the capital, Kigali, leading to a significant shift in power and the establishment of a new government.
