Russo-Circassian War
The Russo-Circassian War (1763-1864) was a conflict between the Russian Empire and the Circassian people in the North Caucasus region. The war aimed to expand Russian territory and assert control over the strategically important area, which was home to various ethnic groups.
The conflict resulted in significant loss of life and displacement for the Circassians, leading to a large-scale exodus. By the end of the war, many Circassians were forced into exile, particularly to the Ottoman Empire, while Russia established dominance over the region, marking a pivotal moment in the history of the Caucasus.
