Russian Old Believers
Russian Old Believers are a group of Eastern Orthodox Christians who separated from the main church in the 17th century. This split occurred due to disagreements over religious reforms introduced by Patriarch Nikon in 1652, which they believed altered traditional practices. Old Believers strive to preserve the original rituals and texts of the Orthodox faith.
Today, Old Believers maintain their unique customs, including distinctive liturgical practices and traditional clothing. They often live in close-knit communities, primarily in Russia and parts of Eastern Europe, where they continue to practice their faith and uphold their cultural heritage.
