Rubin Carter's Life
Rubin Carter was an American professional boxer born on May 6, 1937, in Clifton, New Jersey. He gained fame in the 1960s for his powerful fighting style and was known as "The Hurricane." Carter's boxing career was interrupted when he was wrongfully convicted of murder in 1966, leading to a lengthy prison sentence.
Carter's case drew significant attention, particularly from civil rights activists and celebrities, including Bob Dylan, who wrote the song "Hurricane" about him. After years of legal battles, his conviction was overturned in 1985, and he became an advocate for justice reform before passing away on April 20, 2014.
