Hurricane Carter
Hurricane Carter, born Rubin Carter in 1937, was an American middleweight boxer known for his speed and power in the ring. He gained fame in the 1960s, winning several fights and earning a shot at the world title. However, his boxing career was overshadowed by legal troubles.
In 1966, Carter was wrongfully convicted of murder in a triple homicide case in Paterson, New Jersey. His conviction was based on questionable evidence and witness testimonies. After years of legal battles and public support, including from notable figures like Bob Dylan, his conviction was overturned in 1985, leading to his release from prison.
