Royal Nepal Army
The Royal Nepal Army (RNA) was the military force of the Kingdom of Nepal, responsible for defending the nation and maintaining internal security. Established in the early 18th century, it played a crucial role in various conflicts, including the civil war against Maoist insurgents from 1996 to 2006. The RNA was known for its commitment to national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In 2008, following the abolition of the monarchy, the RNA was restructured and renamed the Nepal Army. This transition marked a significant shift in Nepal's political landscape, as the military adapted to a new democratic framework while continuing to focus on peacekeeping and humanitarian missions both domestically and internationally.
