Ronald Fisher
Ronald Fisher was a British statistician and geneticist, born on February 17, 1890. He is best known for his contributions to the field of statistics, particularly in the development of analysis of variance (ANOVA) and maximum likelihood estimation. Fisher's work laid the foundation for modern statistical methods and experimental design.
In addition to his statistical achievements, Fisher made significant contributions to population genetics. He was a key figure in the modern synthesis of evolutionary biology, integrating Mendelian genetics with Darwinian evolution. Fisher's influential book, "The Genetical Theory of Natural Selection," published in 1930, remains a cornerstone in the study of evolution.
