Jerzy Neyman
Jerzy Neyman was a Polish statistician born on April 16, 1894, and is best known for his contributions to the field of statistics, particularly in hypothesis testing. He developed the Neyman-Pearson lemma, which provides a framework for deciding between two competing hypotheses based on sample data. This work laid the foundation for modern statistical inference.
Neyman also played a significant role in the development of survey sampling techniques and the concept of confidence intervals. His collaboration with Egon Pearson led to the establishment of the Neyman-Pearson framework, which is widely used in various scientific disciplines for making statistical decisions. Neyman passed away on April 5, 1981.
