Ron Jones Experiment
The Ron Jones Experiment was a social experiment conducted in 1967 by high school history teacher Ron Jones in California. Aimed at demonstrating how easily people can conform to authoritarian regimes, Jones created a movement called "The Third Wave." He implemented strict rules and rituals, fostering a sense of community and discipline among his students.
As the experiment progressed, students began to embrace the group's ideology, leading to increased loyalty and conformity. The experiment was abruptly ended after just a week when students expressed a desire to recruit others, highlighting the dangers of groupthink and the potential for ordinary individuals to support oppressive systems.
