Roger de Mortimer
Roger de Mortimer was a prominent English nobleman and military leader during the 14th century. Born around 1287, he became the 1st Earl of March and played a significant role in the political landscape of England. He was known for his opposition to King Edward II and was involved in various conflicts, including the Despenser War.
In 1322, de Mortimer was captured and imprisoned but later escaped to France. He returned to England in 1326, where he helped overthrow Edward II and supported the rule of Queen Isabella and her son, Edward III. His influence grew, but he was eventually executed in 1330.
