Robert Todd Lincoln
Robert Todd Lincoln was the only surviving son of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, and Mary Todd Lincoln. Born on August 1, 1843, he pursued a successful career as a lawyer and businessman, eventually serving as the Secretary of War under President James Garfield.
In addition to his professional achievements, Robert Todd Lincoln was present at several significant historical events. He witnessed the assassination of his father in 1865 and was also present when Garfield was shot in 1881. He later became the president of the Pullman Company and was involved in various civic activities.
