Robert Ridgway
Robert Ridgway was an American ornithologist and painter, born on October 2, 1850, in Mount Carmel, Illinois. He is best known for his extensive work in the field of bird classification and for his contributions to the study of North American birds. Ridgway served as the curator of birds at the United States National Museum and published several influential books, including "The Birds of North and Middle America."
In addition to his scientific work, Ridgway was an accomplished artist, creating detailed illustrations of birds that aided in their identification. His dedication to ornithology and his artistic skills helped advance the understanding of avian species, making him a significant figure in the history of ornithology. Ridgway passed away on March 25, 1929.
