Robert II of France
Robert II of France, also known as Robert the Pious, was a king who ruled from 996 to 1031. He was the son of Hugh Capet, the founder of the Capetian dynasty. Robert II is known for his efforts to strengthen the monarchy and expand royal authority in France during a time of feudal fragmentation.
Robert II faced challenges from powerful nobles and the church, but he managed to maintain relative stability. He was married to Constance of Arles, and they had several children, including Henry I of France. His reign is often noted for its emphasis on piety and religious devotion.
