Robert I, Count of Artois
Robert I, Count of Artois was a French nobleman born in 1250, the son of Robert II, Count of Artois. He became known for his military leadership and was involved in the Seventh Crusade. Robert was a loyal supporter of his cousin, King Louis IX of France, and participated in various campaigns during the 13th century.
In 1270, Robert I joined Louis IX on the Eighth Crusade to Tunis, where he played a significant role. After the death of Louis IX, Robert returned to France and continued to serve in various capacities. He died in 1302, leaving a legacy as a prominent figure in medieval French history.
