Rio-Antirio Bridge
The Rio-Antirio Bridge, also known as the Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge in Greece that connects the Peloponnese peninsula to the mainland. Opened in 2004, it spans approximately 2.88 kilometers over the Gulf of Corinth, making it one of the longest bridges of its kind in the world.
This engineering marvel features a central span of 1,200 meters and is designed to withstand strong winds and seismic activity. The bridge significantly improves transportation in the region, reducing travel time and enhancing economic connections between Patras and Antirio.
