Rigoberta Menchú
Rigoberta Menchú is a Guatemalan indigenous woman and a prominent human rights activist. Born in 1959, she belongs to the K'iche' Maya community and has dedicated her life to advocating for the rights of indigenous peoples in Guatemala and beyond. Menchú gained international recognition for her efforts to raise awareness about the struggles faced by indigenous communities, particularly during the Guatemalan Civil War.
In 1992, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in promoting social justice and cultural rights. Menchú's autobiography, titled "I, Rigoberta Menchú," highlights her experiences and the injustices faced by her people. Her activism continues to inspire many around the world.
