Rifa'a al-Tahtawi
Rifa'a al-Tahtawi was an Egyptian scholar and intellectual born in 1801. He is best known for his role in the modernization of Egypt during the rule of Muhammad Ali Pasha. Al-Tahtawi studied in France and brought back ideas about education, science, and governance, which influenced the development of modern Egyptian society.
He founded the first school for girls in Egypt and emphasized the importance of education for all. Al-Tahtawi also translated various works from French to Arabic, making knowledge more accessible. His contributions laid the groundwork for future reformers in the Arab world and helped shape Egypt's educational landscape.
