Richard III's remains
The remains of Richard III, the last Plantagenet king of England, were discovered in 2012 beneath a parking lot in Leicester. Archaeologists identified the skeleton through DNA analysis and historical records, confirming it belonged to the king who died in 1485 during the Battle of Bosworth Field.
After their discovery, Richard III's remains were reinterred in Leicester Cathedral in 2015. The burial site was designed to honor his legacy, featuring a tomb that reflects both his royal status and the historical significance of his reign. The find has sparked renewed interest in Tudor history and the life of Richard III.
