Richard, Earl of Cornwall
Richard, Earl of Cornwall (1209-1272), was a prominent English nobleman and the second son of King John of England. He became the first Earl of Cornwall in 1227 and was known for his wealth and influence. Richard was also elected King of the Romans in 1257, although he never ruled in Germany.
Richard played a significant role in the politics of his time, often supporting the interests of the English monarchy. He was a patron of the arts and contributed to the development of Cornwall, enhancing its economy and infrastructure. His legacy includes the establishment of the Duchy of Cornwall, which continues to exist today.
