Rice Weevils
Rice weevils are small insects that primarily infest stored grains, particularly rice. They are about 2 to 3 millimeters long and have a distinctive elongated snout. These pests can cause significant damage to food supplies by feeding on the grains, leading to contamination and loss of quality.
The life cycle of rice weevils includes four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Female weevils lay eggs inside the grains, and once the larvae hatch, they burrow into the grain to feed. Effective control methods include proper storage practices and using airtight containers to prevent infestations.
