Responsible Government
Responsible Government is a system where the executive branch is accountable to the legislature and, ultimately, to the electorate. This means that the government must have the confidence of the majority in the legislature to remain in power. If it loses this support, it may be required to resign or call for new elections, ensuring that the government reflects the will of the people.
In a Responsible Government, the Prime Minister and their cabinet are typically drawn from the elected members of the legislature, such as the House of Commons in Canada or the House of Commons in the United Kingdom. This connection helps maintain a check on the government's power and promotes transparency and accountability in decision-making.
