Renamo
Renamo, or the Mozambique National Resistance, is a political and military organization in Mozambique. Founded in 1976, it initially emerged as a rebel group opposing the ruling FRELIMO party during the country's civil war, which lasted until 1992. Renamo has since transitioned into a political party, participating in elections and advocating for various issues.
The group has a complex history, marked by periods of violence and political negotiation. In recent years, Renamo has sought to address grievances related to governance and regional representation, aiming to play a significant role in Mozambique's political landscape.
